WHAT GOD HAS COMPLETED

For Alissa, it began with her "Life Change Project"
Living results from the Life Change Project, which Alissa established while still in the US, are listed below.
Get more details on Alissa's Life Change Project here.

2009 :: The Purchase of 70 acres of land for the Children's Village.

2009 :: The Purchase of a construction vehicle (Lorry Truck).
Pastor Victor and I were able to purchase a vehicle! We would never have guessed that this gift would come our way, but we are truly appreciative. It will simplify so many things in our lives and ministry. We definitely see it as a blessing and gift from Heaven! I am thankful I have had the opportunity to face the regular challenges of transportation here (waiting hours for the Kyenjojo bus to become full, riding in a bus where the driver more than exceeds the speed limit-even through the bumpiest and roughest roads, walking numerous distances to reach certain locations, riding motorcycles in the middle of the craziest traffic in Kampala, sitting on the back of bicycles, riding very old motorcycles that seem to go slower than you can run, boarding over crowded taxis where you constantly have to be moving so that people can exit, etc., etc., etc. (I really could go on and on about methods of transportation in Uganda.), but I cannot express the relief in my heart upon knowing I have my own vehicle, especially with a child on the way.

2009 :: The Purchase of a generator to supply electricity to the Children's Village.

2009 :: The Purchase of the land where God's Care Church is located.
2009 :: The Near Completion of a medical center.

2009 :: The Second Annual Children's Day
One of the greatest highlights of our year in Uganda is "Children's Day."  Alissa worked with a local pastor and other workers of God’s Care Ministries to organize the second annual Children's Day to honor the children. We had over 500 children. We fed the children lunch, administered medication and educational supplies, preached the gospel, and (of course) played games. We also invited some of the government officials to attend, which helped lay the foundation for future endeavors.

2009 :: Drilling the Children's Village's water well.
All of us have been patiently waiting for the first phase of the installation of our water system to be completed-the water well drilling, and now the wait is over. This is a very important step in the process of supplying clean running water to our Children’s Village. God has made a way! Praise be to His name!

The water well has been drilled and covered, pump testing and water quality analysis tests have been conducted to determine the amount and quality of water the well can supply, and preparations have been made to have the water designer create the piping system for the entire children’s village.

2009 :: The visitation of two (2) American teams.
2009 :: The distribution of school supplies, shoes, clothes, and blankets.
2009 :: The provision of free medical services for three days by an American team.
2009 :: The provision of medical treatment to some of the needy families in the area.
2009 :: The hosting of the first meeting for guardians and children in the sponsorship program along with a Christmas dinner and gift giving event.
2009 :: The registration of 60 orphans for Child Sponsorship.
We have reached my personal goal of finding sponsors for at least half of our registered children, which is 30. It has only been a short time since we released the information about the children, but we have had a wonderful response from the people in America! I am very excited about this program! These children’s lives are going to be touched in a special way.

2009 :: The start of a Sunday service for the children of Kyenjojo District.
2009 :: Church Growth in God's Care Church.

2008 :: Distribution of School Supplies to more than 700 children
As a result of a fund raiser done by Alissa’s former school district in America, she was able to deliver school supplies to two of the private Ugandan schools where Alissa had taught during her first trip to Uganda in the summer of 2007. In these two schools, she gave school supplies to over 600 children. This opportunity was a tremendous blessing for the Ugandan children, their school staff members, and for me. She was also able to purchase school supplies for 110 orphans from the village where she will be living. It filled her heart with great joy to see children being given an opportunity to be educated.

Headmistress Margaret said that many of the students in her school are orphans; therefore, they are unable to pay for school supplies. She was extremely grateful for the generosity and kindness of the American students.

Headmaster Godfrey said that some of his students had been sent home the week before Alissa came because they did not have Mathematical Sets, which include a compass, ruler, pencil, eraser, etc. Alissa was able to purchase these sets and distribute them because of the amount of money that was raised by the American students.

2008 :: Giving Worm Medication to approximately 250 children
Many of the families are unable to afford worm medication; therefore, many of the children have worms growing inside of them. It was wonderful to be able to remove their discomfort and increase their physical health by giving them this medication.

2008 :: Various Opportunities to Take “Jesus” and His Love to the Ugandan Community

“We are so thankful that you have come. You have brought Jesus to our home.”

This elderly couple was among the group of individuals that I visited and prayed for while I spent time in Kyenjojo, Uganda. Many of the elderly people in this area are left seeking to raise a number of orphaned children, who have had one or both parents die of AIDS. The grandparents are very lonely and have many needs, but most importantly they need to know that Jesus loves them and truly cares about them.

2008 :: Salvation of Souls
As you bring Jesus and His love to others, they are drawn to become followers of Christ.

“I know Jesus loves me because you sat in the dirt beside me.”

This woman had never heard of Jesus before Alissa was moved with compassion to sit down beside her. After she heard the story of Jesus and his love, she asked him to come into her heart. She now feels more peace and joy in her life.

2008 :: First Annual Children’s Day
The highlight of Alissa’s time in Uganda was our "Children's Day." She worked with a local pastor and other workers of God’s Care Ministries to organize a day to honor the children. We had over 400 children, including 110 orphans. We fed the children lunch, administered medication and educational supplies, preached the gospel, and played games. We also invited some of the government officials to attend, which helped lay the foundation for future endeavors.

2008 :: Piggery Project
Alissa’s heart had been deeply moved by the condition of the Ugandan schools where she had the privilege of teaching for about a month and a half in 2007. Alissa was determined to do something for this school so she gave the headmaster Mwase Godfrey a small donation. He used the money to purchase a pig to develop a piggery project, and he even named it after Alissa! This Piggery Project is now bringing in revenue for the school.
