Parental Information:  Her father died of AIDS, and her mother (Birungi Beatrice) is infected with AIDS.  Her mother is very weak and is unable to work.  She tries to dig to grow food for her family.

School Information:  Mary attends Hakatoma Primary School.  She is in first grade.  She enjoys going to school. 

Church Information:  Mary attends Hakatoma Church of Uganda.  She likes going to church.

Child’s Home Duties:  Collecting firewood, washing plates, fetching water, and caring for her younger sister.

Additional Information:  Her mother is caring for four children in a small two-roomed grass thatched house.  She was diagnosed in May 2008 and began to receive treatment.  She takes ARV’s, but is unable to pay for Ceptrine so she does not take that medication.  The mother says Mary’s greatest needs are schooling and a house.
